Genetic profiling can help us to understand where our honu came from, and which other countries we might share them with.
Honu are great migrators,so it's not too easy to know where they spend their time. Oceania is a huge region with thousands of islands: so unless we see a tagged honu it is hard to know if it stays in one place or lives elsewhere too.
